Jo’s practice is deeply rooted in landscape and our relationship to it.

As a performance artist Jo is interested in how the process of making/moving/being within a given landscape affects our relationship to it and subsequently our relationship with ourselves.
As part of the process the materials used are gathered directly from the landscape and prepared for use. Time is spent understanding their properties, investigating their relationship to other local species/materials and their cultural significance.
The performer-participant interacts with the environment using actions and imagery that help her to translate and respond to what she has found.
